DIY Art Palettes – See mine!

December 7, 2015

One thing that artists can struggle with is finding the perfect palette for their needs. Instead of spending all your money on different palettes , only to find they’re not quite right, why don’t you make your own! I have uploaded a video about DIY art palettes that you can make from items around the house. These are art palettes that I use all the time and they actually work better than the ones you can buy from art stores!Β (Saving the pennies for pretty paint colours) πŸ™‚

Along with myΒ DIY Glass Artists Palette post, this video shows some other cheap & useful ideas that will make painting so easy and fun.

Hope you enjoy the video and I’d love to see your DIY palettes that you use in your studios. The link to my youtube channel is here: Katie Jobling’s YouTube Art ChannelΒ

Lots of love, Katie x

I watched your palette diy video. It’s great. I’m going to make me a photo frame one! And I love the metal pencil tin idea! So portable! I use meat trays from the butcher or microwave dinner plates. They are either styrofoam plastic though. I like the glass and metal idea for easier clean up though . I just throw mine away when I’ve used them to the fullest. Thanks Katie! Great ideas Love!

Hi Katie. Lovely video. I remember my first experience with painting you suggested a worktop saver as a pallet, which I still use. Great ideas. Beautiful person.

    Hi Katie,

I love this idea! I just made my own, but I used white duct tape on the bottom so the glass won’t slide either.

    Thanks for the idea!!
