I wanted to capture the romantic, ethereal quality of magnolias in this painting. I used soft colours, but contrasted this with abstract brush strokes and textures. I created this painting using many layers of acrylics, washes of colour, and textural details with a palette knife. Initially trying to balance the many colours in this painting was a challenge, but I think the end result feels energetic and harmonious.
