This painting began with a thoughtful gift — a handful of buttery ranunculus from a family member. I placed them in a crystal-cut glass, the light pouring in through the window of my studio. The background took on soft blues as I layered translucent washes, letting some drip and run freely, before building up the petals with thicker texture. It’s a quiet little moment — a soft study of beauty, light, and gratitude.
