This piece is a love letter to the quiet unfolding of peonies — soft and romantic, but surrounded here by moody blues that make their delicacy even more striking. I built up the painting slowly, beginning with transparent washes and dripping colour to create movement. Later, I returned to add layers of thick, textured petals, letting them bloom out of the dark like a secret. The result is ethereal, dreamy, and a little dramatic — a piece that holds both softness and power.
