I’ve been thinking a lot about acceptance and what that really means. Life seems a constant entwinement of the good and bad.

Beautiful, uplifting and restful moments threaded in between difficult, sad or tiring moments. One provides context for the other.

With this idea in mind, I challenged myself to use at least 3 materials to create painting that evokes a sense of calm, with a slight hint of chaos. Using high-flow liquid acrylics, I created a drippy backdrop, with heavy-body acrylics layered on top to provide texture and structure. Pearlescent paint touches the tips of the petals to create a glowing effect when viewed from the side. With finishing scribbles of chalk to bring back that chaotic, abstract edge.
